Founded
in 2000, PeunPa works in partnership
with governments, communities, corporations,
and other NGOs worldwide to build
innovative responses against the illegal
wildlife trade and habitat destructions.
PeunPa’s programs are designed to
address the entire cycle of crimes
against nature; from poaching and
logging in protected areas, to smuggling
and the subsequent sale and consumption
in urban areas. |
 |
PeunPa’s
direct approach attacks the economics
of the illegal wildlife trade. In
Asia and most of the world, pristine
habitats and surviving wildlife are
confined to national parks and wildlife
sanctuaries. Simultaneously, much
of the commercial demand for wildlife
products stems from urban domestic
and export markets. Our programs respond
to this by protecting the ‘supply’
of flora and fauna in parks while
simultaneously reducing the urban
demand that ultimately drives the
poaching and habitat destruction. |
